INSTRUCTED BY THE DIVINE WORD

July 14, 2023

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16

In today’s key verse, we are reminded of the incredible value and purpose of God’s Word. It is not just an ordinary book but a divine revelation, breathed out by God Himself. Through His Word, God instructs, teaches, corrects, and trains us in righteousness.

God, in His love and wisdom, gave us His Word as a comprehensive guidebook for life. It is the ultimate source of truth and contains the principles and wisdom necessary for our spiritual growth and maturity. The Scriptures offer timeless insights and practical instructions that shape our beliefs, values, and behavior.

Firstly, God’s Word instructs us. It provides us with divine wisdom and guidance in every area of our lives. It reveals God’s character and His plan of salvation. The Bible teaches us how to live in relationship with God and with one another. It offers principles for decision-making, guidance in times of uncertainty, and insights into God’s purposes.

Secondly, God’s Word reproves us. It exposes the areas of our lives that are not aligned with His truth. It convicts us of sin, bringing to light the thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors that hinder our relationship with God and others. The Word acts as a mirror, revealing the areas in which we fall short and calling us to repentance and transformation.

Thirdly, God’s Word corrects us. It offers correction and redirection when we veer off course. It helps us recognize and correct false beliefs, wrong actions, and misguided priorities. Through the Word, God lovingly shows us the way back to Him, guiding us onto the path of righteousness and wholeness.

Lastly, God’s Word trains us in righteousness. It equips us with the tools necessary to live a life that pleases God. The Scriptures provide examples of godly men and women, teaching us valuable lessons and inspiring us to walk in faith and obedience. Through the Word, we are equipped to face the challenges of life, empowered to serve others, and strengthened to live out our calling.

Keeping these things in mind, I’d encourage you to approach the Word of God with reverence and humility, recognizing its authority and transformative power. Open your heart and mind to its instruction, allowing it to shape your thoughts, attitudes, and actions. As you yield to the guidance of God’s Word, you will be equipped to live a life that honors Him and brings about His purposes in this world.
