TRUSTING IN GOD’S AUTHORITY

August 2, 2023

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

In the journey of life, there often comes a critical question: where do we place our trust? Do we rely on our own understanding, abilities, and authority? Or do we wholeheartedly trust in God’s unfailing wisdom and guidance? Proverbs 3:5-6 challenges us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, submit to His authority in all our ways, and allow Him to make our paths straight.

Trusting in ourselves may seem tempting, as it gives us a sense of control and self-reliance. We often rely on our own knowledge, experiences, and skills to navigate the challenges and decisions we face. However, the truth is that our understanding is limited and flawed. We are subject to biases, uncertainties, and the unpredictable nature of life.

On the other hand, trusting in God acknowledges His sovereignty, His perfect wisdom, and His intimate knowledge of every situation. It requires surrendering our desire for control and placing our confidence in His divine guidance. When we trust in God, we align ourselves with the ultimate authority, knowing that He sees the bigger picture and has plans beyond what we can comprehend.

Trusting in ourselves can lead to pride, self-reliance, and the illusion of self-sufficiency. It can blind us to our need for God and prevent us from experiencing the fullness of His blessings and guidance. However, when we trust in God, we open ourselves to His transformative power, His peace that surpasses all understanding, and His direction in every aspect of our lives.

Trusting in God requires faith, humility, and a willingness to surrender our own authority. It means acknowledging that His ways are higher than ours and that His plans for us are far greater than what we can envision. When we lean on His understanding rather than our own, we invite Him to direct our paths and bring about outcomes that align with His perfect will.

Today, I invite you to examine where you have placed your trust. Are you leaning on your own understanding, or are you surrendering to God’s authority? Let go of the pride that stems from relying on your own wisdom and abilities. Choose to trust in God wholeheartedly, allowing Him to guide your steps and shape your destiny.
