A LEAKING TANK

May 11, 2023

“I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being.” – Ephesians 3:16

If you want to be effective for God, you must make sure that your tank is filled! How do you fill your tank? Here is what Paul told the church: If you want to experience a greater power, if you want to be strengthened and live with a greater courage, you need to get before the Lord and ask Him to grant you that power through His Spirit and fill your inner being with His presence.

You might be saying, “Well, I’ve been saved a long time. I don’t think I need to do that.” If that’s you, then you’ve got it all wrong, my friend. Making these requests should be an everyday thing! We should constantly humble ourselves and get before the Lord, asking Him to strengthen us and fill us with His power.

Do you know why? Because we leak. Perhaps you were filled with His power and experienced His presence at one point. But eventually, if you stray or sway or move away, your spiritual tank will naturally leak.

We’ve got to be filled to be effective. That is why Paul told believers in Ephesians 3:16, “I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being.” He prayed that God would fill their spiritual tank and prepare them for whatever came next.

Listen, you can’t keep your tank full on your own. Without the continued presence of God, your spiritual tank will leak. What happens when your car runs out of gas? You stop. You can’t go anywhere. You can’t do anything. You are stuck.

The same is true with God. If you want to continue to be effective for God’s Kingdom, you are going to need the gas to be able to do so. The only way to make sure that you are filled with gas is to be filled with the Spirit.

Let God fill your tank, today. It’s time to stop running on empty. It’s time to stop relying on your own strength. Let God fill you and take you where He wants to lead you.
