WHERE YOUR FEET ARE

January 19, 2023

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” – Matthew 6:34

Throughout Scripture, Paul makes the reference to a race to describe our life. From Paul’s perspective, life was (and is) a race. And like a race, there is a beginning, middle, and end.
A race is a good visual because it gives us direction. God wants our lives to have direction. We should be headed somewhere with a goal in mind. Over the next three days, we are going to be looking at how our life is like a race.

So, where does a race start? At the beginning, of course. Where is the beginning of our race? Well, where are your feet right now? If you haven’t viewed life as a race, then your race is just beginning. And that beginning is NOW.

There is a quote that says, “you are where your feet are.” You might be saying, “well DUH. Thanks pastor but I’d say that is pretty obvious.”

The problem is, for many it is not so obvious because they haven’t been where their feet are in a long time. They are always looking at what was behind them or what is in front of them. Some like to think back to “the good ole days” back when life was a certain type of way. Others are constantly looking ahead to what is next.

In either case, you are not living in the moment. You aren’t living “where your feet are.” Matthew 6:34 says, “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

The truth is none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. And that is exactly what Matthew is telling us. God doesn’t want us to concern ourselves with what is coming because He will take care of that when the time comes.

Right now, all you need to worry about is being where your feet are!
