UNEXPECTED WAYS

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8-9
Over the last few days, we have been discussing the faithfulness of God. Make no mistake about it. God is always faithful. If God promised it, He will do it. We have plenty of evidence to support this.
All throughout Scripture we see examples of God’s faithfulness. When God makes a promise, He is faithful. But He isn’t just faithful in Scripture. He is faithful in our lives. He fulfills every promise He makes to us as well.
If you have never experienced the faithfulness of God through His promises, maybe you need to ask Him to reveal His promises to you. God makes promises to each of us, and He fulfills all of them.
But this does come with a warning, and there is something we need to talk about. God doesn’t always fulfill our promises in ways we would expect Him to. Sometimes, God does things we would never expect Him to do.
God narrowed Gideon’s army from 32,000 soldiers down to 300 men. Why would He do that? Don’t you want more men in battle not less? God did so because He was going to show that He could defeat an army of 135,000 with just 300 men (Judges 6).
In Joshua 6, He caused the walls of Jericho to fall simply by having His people walk around the walls (not what they were expecting). In 2 Kings, the Angel of the Lord destroyed 185,000 Assyrians.
God will always fulfill His promises. Sometimes, He does so in ways we would expect. But other times, He does so in unexpected ways. Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. If God made a promise to you, He will fulfill it. But He will do it His way. Because His way is the best way, even when it is unexpected.
