HUMILITY BEFORE BLESSINGS

August 3, 2023

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” – Proverbs 11:2

In our pursuit of blessings and favor from God, it is essential to remember that God cannot bless the prideful. Pride puts up a barrier between us and the blessings of God because He cannot bless sin. Proverbs 11:2 reminds us that when pride enters our hearts, it leads to disgrace, but humility opens the way for wisdom.

Pride is a deceptive and destructive trait that exalts self and diminishes our reliance on God. It promotes self-sufficiency, arrogance, and an inflated sense of importance. When we are consumed by pride, we believe that we can accomplish everything in our own strength, disregarding our need for God’s grace and guidance.

However, the truth is that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). He delights in those who recognize their dependence on Him and approach Him with humility. Humility is the posture that acknowledges our limitations, our weaknesses, and our need for God’s intervention.

When we humble ourselves before God, we position ourselves to receive His wisdom, guidance, and blessings. Humility enables us to recognize that every good thing comes from God, and we are merely stewards of His grace and blessings. It opens our hearts to align with His will and purposes, rather than seeking our own agendas.

God longs to bless His children abundantly, but He cannot bless pride. It is when we surrender our prideful attitudes and embrace humility that we invite God’s favor and blessings into our lives. Humility redirects our focus from self to God, allowing His grace to flow freely.

Today, I challenge you to examine your heart and identify any areas of pride that may hinder God’s blessings in your life. Ask God to reveal any prideful attitudes, thoughts, or actions, and seek His forgiveness. Embrace humility as a daily practice, remembering that true wisdom and blessings come from God alone.

As you cultivate humility, you will experience the richness of God’s blessings and the transformation of your character. Your relationships will be marked by grace, compassion, and forgiveness. Your perspective will shift from self-centeredness to God-centeredness, enabling you to align your desires with His perfect plan.
