CHANGING MIDSTREAM

April 1, 2023

“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

The Swedish chemist Alfred Nobel woke up one morning and read his own obituary in the morning newspaper. It read, “Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, who died yesterday, devised a way for more people to be killed in war than ever before, and he died a very rich man.”

It was actually Alfred’s brother who had died, and the reporter had made a mistake! But still, reading his obituary made a tremendous impact on Alfred’s life.

He decided after reading it that he wanted to be remembered for something different. So he spent the remainder of his life choosing a different path, and it was that path that led him to create the Nobel Peace Prize—an award given to certain individuals who accomplished significant achievements that advanced peace in the world.

He eventually wrote, “Every man ought to have the chance to correct his epitaph in midstream and write a new one.”

Listen, TODAY you have the opportunity to correct your epitaph midstream.
You have been stuck in darkness long enough. And it’s time to walk out of the darkness and into the light.

You say, “I’m too bad for Jesus to save” or “I’ve been in darkness too long.” Do you know what the Bible says in Romans 5:8? “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Jesus didn’t wait for you to get cleaned up before He came to rescue you. He came while you were stuck in the pit, covered in mud and filth. Jesus came. God came. The Light of the world came. While you were in complete darkness, He said you now have an opportunity to run to the Light!

The question is, will you run to Him today?
