A NEW WALK

May 3, 2023

“As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” – Ephesians 4:1-2

When you give your life to Christ, God calls you to walk a new walk. The life you were living before, the path you were on, it just won’t cut it anymore. He has different plans for you. In fact, He has BETTER plans for you.

Paul tells us what this new walk should look like in Ephesians 4. Verses 1-2 say, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

From before you were born, God designed a life for you. He designed a life for everyone. How close they live to the life God has called them to is up to them. He gives all of us free reign to do what we want. But the more obedient we are to Him, the better our lives will be.
And that doesn’t just go from a consequence and punishment standpoint, but also in terms of blessings and rewards. The best version of your life is the life God designed for you. He wants the very best for you.

That is why Paul urges us to “live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” The calling God has on our lives is the best we can do. There is nothing you can create, construct, or devise better for yourself. It’s just not possible.

If you want to live the best version of your life, you are going to have to take a different path. It’s a new walk. That is what Paul urges us to live in Ephesians 4. Do you want the best? Choose God’s way. It’s the very best life can get!
