Everyone Has a Role

"Tell Archippus: ‘See that you fulfill the ministry that you have received in the Lord.’" - Colossians 4:17

It is easy to look at someone else's gifts and feel like yours do not matter. Maybe you are not a preacher. Maybe you are not the one leading the group or standing on a platform. But none of that disqualifies you from making a difference. Ministry is not about position. It is about obedience. Paul closes his letter to the Colossians with a list of names, each one a reminder that the mission of God takes all kinds of people.

Some were encouragers. Some were messengers. Others opened their homes or supported the work behind the scenes. Archippus is just one name in the mix, but Paul singles him out with a challenge: see that you finish what God gave you. Fulfill the ministry. That same challenge applies to you. Whatever God has called you to do, finish it.

You may not always feel seen. You may wonder if what you are doing matters. But obedience in the shadows is still obedience. When you pull your weight on the rope, the whole mission moves forward. When you show up and serve with consistency, others are strengthened. When you pray in private, God works in power. Nothing done in faith is ever wasted.

Too many believers are sitting on the bench, thinking the game is for someone else. But you were never called to be a spectator. You were called to join the team. Your presence, your prayers, your obedience... They are all part of something bigger. The mission of Jesus moves through people just like you. And if you do not step into your role, something will be missing.

So don’t wait for a title. Don’t wait for someone to beg you to serve. Do what God has already placed in your hands. Encourage someone. Share your story. Use your gifts. Finish the assignment. You were not saved to sit. You were saved to serve. Your role matters. Now play it.
