Making Disciples
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” — Matthew 28:19 (CSB)
The Great Commission isn't just for pastors and missionaries; it's for every follower of Christ. Making disciples means helping others grow in their relationship with God, whether they're taking their first steps of faith or maturing in their walk. This happens through relationships, conversations, and living out our faith authentically. We don't need to be perfect or have all the answers; we just need to be willing to share what God has done in our lives. Discipleship is about walking alongside others, encouraging their growth, and helping them discover their own calling as stewards of God's gifts.
Often, discipleship begins in simple and ordinary moments. It may look like listening to someone who is struggling, offering a word of encouragement, praying with a friend, or taking time to study Scripture together. These small acts of faithfulness can have a lasting impact. When we make space for others, we reflect the love and patience that Christ has shown to us. God often uses our consistency more than our confidence.
Discipleship also shapes us as we invest in others. As we teach, encourage, and serve, we are reminded to stay rooted in God's Word and dependent on His Spirit. Walking with someone else in faith calls us to humility, grace, and perseverance. It helps us grow beyond a private faith and into a life that intentionally points others to Jesus. In this way, discipleship becomes not only a calling but also a means of personal transformation.
Each person we encounter may be someone God has placed in our path for a reason. We may never know how a kind conversation, a faithful example, or a timely prayer could influence someone's spiritual journey. What matters is our willingness to be available and obedient. When we trust God with our everyday interactions, He can use them to build His kingdom in ways far greater than we can see.
Prayer
God, give me opportunities to make disciples and the wisdom to know how to help others grow in their faith. Help me be authentic about my own journey and willing to invest in others' spiritual development. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
