God Keeps Every Promise
"Not one word of all the good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass." - Joshua 21:45
God’s promises are something you can depend on, no matter how unpredictable life can be. Imagine the people of Israel, looking back over generations of promises made and fulfilled, recognizing a pattern in God’s character: He is always faithful.
Joshua 21:45 tells us that "not one word of all the good promises that the LORD had made...failed; all came to pass." When God speaks, His words aren’t just hopeful wishes or ideas, they’re guarantees. He doesn’t miss a single one.
You might know what it feels like to wait for a promise to be fulfilled but think about how God’s people have waited throughout history. They held onto His promises even when they couldn’t see any evidence of them happening. They trusted, even through seasons of doubt or when they had every reason to question. And God came through every time, exactly as He said He would.
Lamentations 2:17 says, “The Lord has done what he planned; he has fulfilled his word, which he decreed long ago.” This truth should anchor you. God is a promise-keeper. And His promises aren’t based on changing circumstances or how we feel, they are based on His unchanging character. When He promises to be with you, to never leave or forsake you, you can trust Him. When He promises to work all things together for good for those who love Him, that’s exactly what He will do.
But here’s what I’ve come to realize: trusting God’s promises also means letting go of our timelines and our ways of expecting them to be fulfilled. Sometimes God fulfills His promises in ways that surprise us or in timing we wouldn’t have chosen. Yet in every case, His timing and ways prove perfect. He knows what we need and when we need it, and His promises always come to pass at just the right moment.
Hold onto His promises. Remember that the God who never fails His people will not fail you. He is working, even if you don’t see it yet. His word is true, and everything He has promised will come to pass. God is always faithful, and He is faithful to you.
