SHINE BRIGHTER TOGETHER

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24-25

In the heart of our Christian journey, the Lord invites each one of us to bring our lamp, to do our part, and in doing so, contribute to the radiant light of the Church. This divine call echoes the timeless truth that when every member of this community fulfills their role, the collective light of the Church shines even brighter.

The Bible resounds with the resolute declaration that we are better together, we need each other. You need this community, and this community needs you. Yet, in the ebb and flow of church life, we sometimes forget the vital truth that each of us plays a pivotal role in the tapestry of this gathering.

What is the purpose of our weekly assembly? Is it merely a stage for preachers to preach, worship leaders to lead, teachers to teach, greeters to greet, and deacons to fulfill their roles? While these are integral elements, there is a deeper purpose that transcends the notion of a spectator-driven event.

The Apostle Paul, in his wisdom, would challenge the notion of a gathering solely led by a few church leaders pouring into the masses as mere consumers. Instead, he would urge us to see the Church as a dynamic body where every member contributes, creating a symphony of diverse gifts and callings.

As we bring our lamps, as we do our part, we actively participate in the communal expression of God’s grace. The purpose of our gathering extends beyond passive consumption; it is a dynamic collaboration where each one brings their unique gifts, talents, and presence to enrich the collective experience.

In 1 Corinthians 12:27, Paul aptly describes the Church as the body of Christ, with each member playing a vital role. Embracing this truth, let us recognize the significance of our part in the Church’s mission.

My friend, as you bring your lamp, as you actively participate in the life of this community, remember that your role matters. The Church is not merely a stage; it is a living, breathing organism where your unique contribution amplifies the collective light that draws others to Christ.
