DELAYED, NOT DENIED
“The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9
Do you ever wonder why it seems like God is delaying the grand finale, the day when suffering ceases, and evil is eradicated? Here’s a belief worth holding onto: He’s delaying that day for some of us here today. It’s not a delay out of indifference but one filled with anticipation. He’s waiting for you to place your complete trust in Him, to love Him, and to surrender your life. Why? Out of His great love for you.
2 Peter 3:9 paints the picture: “The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.” It’s a delay wrapped in divine patience, driven by God’s desire for every soul to find redemption.
That day is coming, as Revelation 1:7 declares, “He is coming with the clouds. Everyone will see him.” On that day, every eye will see and every ear will hear. Doubts will be extinguished, and the fog of uncertainty will finally lift. Your questions will find answers, and as 1 Peter 1 tells us, your faith will transform into sight.
But until that day unfolds, we find ourselves in the “meantime.” What are we supposed to do as we navigate the evil, pain, sadness, suffering, and disappointment in this world?
Let’s not miss the profound truth in this waiting period. It’s a time to anchor ourselves in hope, to lean into God’s enduring love. While the grand finale hasn’t happened, God’s love is actively at work in the delays. It’s an invitation to trust, to persevere, and to share this hope with others who may still be on the journey to faith.
In the midst of worldly challenges, let’s not lose sight of the promise. The day without grief, crying, tears, or pain is coming. So, in the meantime, let’s choose hope over despair, faith over doubt, and love over bitterness. Embrace the delay as an opportunity for transformation, drawing closer to the One who patiently waits for hearts to turn to Him.
