The Secret to Living is Dying

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20

To live “in Christ,” we must die to self. This concept, though challenging, is central to our faith. Paul captures this profound truth in Galatians 2:20, where he declares that he has been crucified with Christ and no longer lives, but Christ lives in him. This statement underscores a fundamental transformation: our lives are no longer about us but about Jesus living through us.

Our bodies were not designed to bring glory to ourselves. They were created to bring glory to God. When we accept Christ, our purpose shifts dramatically. It’s no longer about building our own kingdom but about building His. This change in perspective is essential for living a life that honors God.

Paul’s words remind us that living in Christ means surrendering our own desires and ambitions. The goal of our lives is not to exalt our own name but to glorify His. This self-denial is not a loss but a profound gain. By dying to ourselves, we truly find life in Christ.

Romans 6:6 further illuminates this truth: “For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.” Our old selves, with all their sinful tendencies and self-centered ambitions, are crucified with Christ. This death breaks the power of sin over us, setting us free to live for God.

To live “in Christ,” we must continually choose to die to self. This means letting go of our pride, our need for control, and our pursuit of worldly success. It means prioritizing God’s will over our own and seeking His glory in all that we do.

Remember, the secret to truly living is found in dying to yourself. Embrace this truth, and let Christ live in you. Your life will become a powerful testimony of His grace and glory.
