The Promise of His Return
“I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.” - Revelation 3:11
Jesus promises His church, "I am coming soon." Other translations say, "I am coming quickly," which captures the essence of the original Greek word used here. This word refers to the speed of His return, not the timing. It’s where we get our English word “tachometer,” which measures the rapidity of an engine’s revolutions. When the events leading up to Christ’s return begin to unfold, it will happen very quickly.
One day, we’ll hear the trumpet of God, and those who love Jesus will be caught up with Him in the clouds. We'll be taken to be with Him in Heaven. Those who haven't received Jesus will remain on earth to face the tribulation. The Bible assures us that faithful believers, won’t be there.
Some churches will remain unchanged because their members never truly knew Jesus. The true Church, composed of those born again in Christ, will be gone. Denominations don’t determine who goes to Heaven; being born again does. As Billy Graham once said, denominations are like tags that fall off in Heaven and burn off in hell. Those who have been forgiven of their sins and know Jesus personally will be with Him.
You don’t want to miss the rapture. It's the next major prophetic event on God’s calendar. Jesus promises His return is soon. This promise should ignite a sense of urgency in us. The old country preacher said it well: “It’s time for the church to WAKE up and SING up and PREACH up and PRAY up and NEVER GIVE up or LET up or BACK up or SHUT up until the church is FILLED up or WE GO up!” Amen!
Let this promise encourage and motivate you. Live in anticipation of His return, staying faithful and diligent in your walk with Him. The time is coming quickly, and we must be ready.
Are you prepared for His return? Are you living in a way that reflects your belief in His imminent coming? Now is the time to wake up, live out your faith boldly, and share the hope you have in Christ with those around you. Jesus is coming soon. Let’s be ready.
