The Gospel of Peace

"And, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace." - Ephesians 6:15

In the battle of spiritual warfare, your footing matters. Soldiers in ancient times wore sturdy sandals equipped with nails or spikes to ensure stability on the battlefield. In the armor of God, your spiritual footing comes from the gospel of peace. It’s not just protection for your feet, it’s a foundation that keeps you standing firm and ready to advance, even in the midst of conflict.

The gospel of peace is more than just a message of salvation. It’s the good news that, through Christ, you have been reconciled to God. You’re no longer an enemy of God. You are His child. This peace gives you the assurance that no matter what battles you face, your eternity is secure, and God is with you. When the enemy tries to destabilize you with fear, doubt, or chaos, the gospel anchors you in truth.

But the gospel of peace isn’t just about standing firm, it’s about being ready. The shoes symbolize readiness to move, to bring the message of peace to others. In spiritual warfare, your mission isn’t just to defend yourself. It’s to advance God’s kingdom. Sharing the gospel becomes an act of defiance against the enemy’s schemes, shining the light of Christ into the darkness.

How do you put on these shoes? First, you need to live in the peace of the gospel. Spend time meditating on the truth of what Christ has done for you. Let His peace guard your heart and mind, even when life feels overwhelming. Second, stay ready to share this peace with others. Whether through words, actions, or prayer, be prepared to bring the hope of the gospel to those who need it.

Spiritual battles often aim to shake you and keep you from moving forward. But with the gospel of peace, you can stand firm, grounded in the truth of God’s love, and step boldly into whatever God calls you to do. Because when your footing is secure in Christ, no attack from the enemy can make you fall.
